Leap Year Logic FAQ

Why was 1900 not a leap year?

Years divisible by 100 are not leap years unless they are also divisible by 400. 1900 fails this rule, but 2000 passes.

What is a 'Leap Day'?

February 29th is the extra day added to the calendar every four years (mostly).

How often do leap years happen?

Approximately every 4 years, but the 100/400 rule means we skip 3 leap years every 400 years.
